Concept Connections Folder

OR WHAT IN THE WORLD IS IN A WORD?

After you have chosen your word, you are to keep track of it througout the year. We will keep these things in a folder of your choice in our classroom. There will be several research assignments you will be completeting and a culminating project will be completed in the month of May. The list of assignments/items to store in a  folder will be kept on this page. Please reference it thougout the year to be sure that your folder has all the required contents. As you add items to the list, they should also be added to your Easybib.com works cited page.

1. Works Cited Page- You should always have an updated works cited page in your folder.

2. Connotation-On a word document or piece of paper, free write about your word. What do you know about the concept before you start this process.

3. Denotation-Find 2 on-line dictionary definitions for your word. They must come from actual dictionaries, not web pages. I suggest Merriam-Webster or Dictionary.com.

4. Visual Thesaurus Word Web- Go to the school's research page, click on Visual Thesaurus. Enter your word and print off the web it gives you. Click on two other words and print off those webs as well. These words will have similar meanings. Be sure you know what each of the words means as it will add to your understanding of the concept.
